Dr. Harvey Snyder

Born in Rockaway Beach, Queens, Harvey moved to Center City Philadelphia in 1979, where he built both his life and career.

A cardiologist, he began in solo practice at Cooper University Hospital and grew it into The Heart House and Cardiovascular Associates of the Delaware Valley, now a practice of over 30 physicians. He served on the board of Cooper University Health Care for over 30 years. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College and earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his training at Cornell University Medical Center and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Despite his many accomplishments, Harvey simply said, “I mend broken hearts.”

To his patients, he was more than a doctor. He cared for each person with kindness and personal connection, often going beyond what was expected. Over the years, he received countless letters from people whose lives he had changed.

He was charming, funny, and deeply compassionate, with a rare ability to make people feel seen. He took genuine interest in everyone he met and formed instant connections.

Despite his deep connection to so many, the greatest joy of his life was his family.

At the center of his life was his beloved wife, Babs. They grew up in the same town and began dating on a deal with his father. Two weeks later, he proposed, certain of the life they would build together. He was right. Married for 52 years, they did everything side by side. Harvey proudly called himself the “Honey Do Man,” finding real joy in making Babs happy and supporting her fully.

He was a devoted father to David, Gabrielle, and Juliette, instilling in them a deep belief that they could do anything. As a grandfather to Bodin, Ilyana, Vienna, Wynn, and Weston, he brought warmth, humor, and presence.

Harvey had a passion for travel and curiosity about the world, visiting over 70 countries and seeking out new people and stories. He and Babs also shared a love of art and collecting, traveling together to events such as the Venice Biennale, Art Basel, and Maastricht.

He is survived by his wife, Babs Snyder; his son, David Snyder (Leslie); his daughter, Gabrielle Canno (Matthew); and his daughter, Juliette Goldberg (Zack); his five beloved grandchildren; and his brother Gary Snyder. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Grace Snyder; and his brother Alfred Snyder.
